Barbara A. Doherty (Leary), age 80, of Dedham, formerly a long-time resident of Newtonville, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2023.
Barbara was the beloved wife of William F. "Bill" Doherty, devoted mother of William Doherty Jr & wife Rose, Daniel Doherty & wife Melissa, Sean Doherty & wife Betsy, James Doherty & wife Alicia, Caroline O'Shaughnessy, and Kathryn Holbrook & husband Dennis. Loving "Mema" of Billy III, Erin, Evan, Madison, Darienne, Joey, Brynn, Riley, Lily, Tatum, Jillian, Jocelyn, James Jr., Olivia, KatieAnn, Meghan, Tommy, Courtney, Blake and Paige. Cherished daughter of the late William & Cecilia (Mulvoy) Leary, dear sister of William Leary & Suzanne White, Caroline Paradiso & husband Dom, Mark Leary & wife Donna, the late Thomas Leary & his wife Nancy, the late Eddie Leary & wife Beth and the late John Leary & late wife Candy. Barbara is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28th at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, 573 Washington St., Newton. Visiting Hours will be on Friday from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., West Newton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1120, Framingham, MA 01701.
