Obituary for Lena C. Marchi

On Monday, September 26, 2022, Lena Marchi, artist, loving wife and
mother of four children, passed away peacefully at the age of 96.
Lena was born on May 26, 1926, in Boston, MA to Louis and Mary
(Locchi) Labadini. As a lifelong learner, Lena attended several art
schools in the Boston area. She received her B.A. in Art and Art History
along with teaching certification from Framingham State University in
1974. She painted professionally, showed and was awarded nationally
and was an art educator in Wellesley and Weston Public Schools as well
as Dana Hall. On April 6, 1944, she married Guido Marchi. They raised
four children June, Carleen, Carl, and Marianne.
Lena had a passion for painting and studying Art History. She combined
these two worlds in her passion for art education and an extraordinary
art career. Her large abstract paintings were expressions of faith,
current social issues and creation. Her artwork was admired not only by
friends and family, but also by hotels, corporations and public
institutions where here art is displayed and by art societies where her
art was often shown and awarded. Lena was known for her quiet
disposition, her sparkling smile, and her insatiable love of art.
Lena was preceded in death by her father, Louis, and her mother, Mary
(Locchi), brother John Labadini, sister and brother-in-law Irene and
Charles Marchetti, and daughters June and Carleen Marchi. She is
survived by her brother Victor Labadini, son Carl Marchi and daughter
Marianne and husband Wade Smith, her grandchildren Victoria and
Jordan and several nieces and nephews. A wake will be held on Friday,
September 30th, 2022, at Burke Funeral Home, 8:30-9:30 a.m. with
funeral Mass and burial following at St Paul’s Parish on Washington
Street at 10 o’clock a.m.
