JoAnne Catherine Harper of Watertown, Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021. JoAnne had a long and brave struggle with Type 1 Diabetes.

She was born December 30, 1959, the daughter of Thomas Sullivan and Patricia Gould and attended schools in Wellesley, Massachusetts and Newport, Rhode Island.

In 1984 JoAnne met her husband Joseph Harper and married April 9th, 1988, and were together for 37 years.

Along with her husband Joe, JoAnne is survived by her son Brian of Watertown and daughter Jessica and her fiancé David Mee, granddaughters RiLee, KarLee and newborn David Jr., of Waltham MA.

JoAnn is also survived by her mother Patricia Sullivan of Port St Lucie FL, older brother Thomas Jr Sullivan and his fiancé Vilma Balanay of Binghamton NY, and younger sister Karen Sullivan and her long-term partner Nikolaos Meimarides of Norwood MA.

JoAnne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, daughter and sister who was very much loved and will be sorely missed.

JoAnne lived near the Charles River in Watertown where she took up walking and photography, she was an excellent photographer; happy to share her beautiful photos with other people. She had talent for decorating and loved to put that skill to good use for Christmas, birthdays and other occasions. She was a free spirit “hippie Chick” who dealt life with passion. JoAnne enjoyed Facebook to stay connected with her friends and relatives. She was a lover of kittens and took in shelter cats that were in need of care while awaiting adoption.

JoAnne will be buried beside her sister, Claire and her aunt Barbara at St Columba Cemetery located in Middletown, Rhode Island.  Expressions of sympathy may be made in JoAnne's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or American Diabetes Association
