Obituary for Marcelline Anne McManus (Cassen)

Marcelline Anne McManus (Cassen), 88, of Ashland, formerly of Wellesley Hills passed away surrounded
by her loving family on Saturday, March 21 st .
Marcie, as she was known to friends, was predeceased by parents Pauline (Morin) and Ernest Cassen,
sister Paulette Mulvaney, son-in-law Gregg Fontecchio, as well as her loving daughter Jeanne. She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Joseph; their children and spouses Michelle (Kevin) Coughlin, Michael (Raina) McManus, Kevin (Jenny) McManus, Kathleen (Bryan) Dillon, Anne (Robert) Furdon, Eileen (George) Nelson and Patricia Fontecchio; her sister-in-law Cecilia McManus; as well as many dear friends. Marcie was also the loving grandmother to nineteen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A talented seamstress as well as an accomplished knitter, baker and gardener. She created a wonderful
home for eight active children and many pets. Marcie is best remembered for her still-life watercolor
paintings. She was a longtime member of the New England Watercolor Society, member of the Wellesley Society of Artist, Copley Society of Artists and Concord Art Association. She loved spending time in West Yarmouth at her family home and on Newfound Lake in Bristol, New Hampshire. Her keen eye and precise hand captured the beauty in the ordinary; everything she created from an apple dumpling to a wedding gown, was a work of art. Marcie was a graduate of Regis College and the School of Modern Design, She was also an active and devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Wellesley.
The family would like to thank the kind and loving care given to Marcie by her personal caretaker Alex Haven.
