Obituary for Joanne Shirley Mosher

Joanne “Shirley” (Lovely) Mosher

Shirley, as her friends knew her, was a life-long resident of Newton, born to Dorothy (Gallant) and Francis “Frank” Lovely of Newton. She was the sister of Judith (Maguire) Coulter and her husband, Alexander Coulter of Reading, MA; and two younger brothers, Russell Lovely of NY and FL, and Robert F. Lovely of Chicago, IL, both of whom predeceased her in death. She was the loving and passionate wife of Carl W. Mosher for over 40 years, and the man whose death she has mourned for the past 20 years. She was the spirited mother of William “Bill” Mosher and his wife, Laury of Baltimore, MD; Jane Mosher-Canty and her husband, Thomas Canty of Westford, MA; Robert F. Mosher of Newton, MA; and Brian J. Mosher and his husband, Dean Wallace of Dedham, MA. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: William Jr., Nicole, Dennis, Brendan, Ryan, Kristen, Colin, and Dean… with whom she found immense joy celebrating life. She also enjoyed the many years she had with her great-grandchildren, Savannah and Aidan. She was a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews, a loving cousin, and a thoughtful niece to her many aunts. She was an honest woman who took pride in her many life-long friendships.
Calling hours will be at the Burke and Blackington Funeral Home on Washington Street in West Newton on Thursday, August 29th from 3:30-7pm and Friday, August 30th from 8:30-9:30, followed by a brief family-led celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in her memory to the charity of your choice or the American Heart Association. The internment will be private
