Obituary

Loren Ralph Watts (Larry) formally from Weston, MA and Naples, FL died at Sunrise Wayland Assisted Living (Wayland) on April 15, 2019. Larry was born in Barre, Vermont, the son of Ralph and Atea (Bai Rossi) Watts. He lost his father when he was only 7 years old; their beloved mother and maternal grandmother raised him and his sisters. Times were tough, but love was strong. Larry loved to share stories of his many jobs as a young boy, especially the summer he sold snacks and cold drinks from his wagon at the local granite quarry. After a stint in the Army, where he was a Military Police in Austria, Larry was determined to make a name for himself. Over the years he proved that he had to the right stuff to succeed. He started out selling for Burroughs Corp, went on to sell computers for RCA and became a VP. He also worked for Vendo Corp and Mosler Safe as an Executive. Eventually he and Peg moved to the Weston, MA where he was a Management Consulting Partner for Coopers and Lybrand. Over the years, Larry and Peg moved 19 times ... "you go where the opportunity to succeed is", was the family mantra.
At age 57, Larry decided to take early retirement and he and Peg moved to SW Florida. An avid golfer, Larry played daily and they enjoyed 25+ years in Naples, FL. Many happy times were spent with Larry's sister Barb and her husband Charlie at Wyndemere Country Club. Family and friends were important to Larry and Peg. Every summer was spent up on Lake Champlain in northern Vermont. The Green Mountain state was home and the call to return was strong. Larry loved nothing more than spending hours fishing, duck hunting, boating, and spending time with family at the summer home (camp) in Highgate Springs, VT.
Larry was married to the love of his life, Margaret (Shepard) Watts-Peg, for 63 years. He is survived his daughter, Kimberlee Watts Nicksa and son in law, Gary of Wellesley, MA. His son, Loren R. Watts II predeceased him. His daughter in law, Alison Gomm is from Gloucester, MA. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Sarah Nicksa Baker and her husband David from Gainesville, VA, Jeffrey C. Nicksa from Austin, TX and Kyle, Benjamin, and Samuel Watts from Gloucester, MA. He had 3 beautiful great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jackson, and Emerson Baker. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive him.
There will be a private family memorial to celebrate Larry's life this summer in northern Vermont. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Donations can be made to: Ascend Hospice /Ascend Home Health 100 Locke Drive Marlborough, MA 01752, Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011 or a charity of your choice.
