Born in Worcester MA on August 8, 1937, John attended Saint John’s Grammar School and Saint John’s High School for two years before transferring to the newly opened Assumption Prep in 1953 for the last two years of high school. John was a member of Assumption Prep’s French Club, Debate Club and Track team.

John loved the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. He found his time with the Scouts very rewarding.

In 1956, the entire family moved to a new home in Shrewsbury MA where his parents lived for the rest of their lives. After high school, John attended and graduated from Notre Dame with a BA in English. It was there that John developed a love for writing and debate. John was a big fan of Notre Dame Football and loved attending the Fighting Irish games.

John’s deep interest in language, writing and debate lead him to Boston College Law School where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1963. He became a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association shortly thereafter.

John moved to his beloved home on Beacon Hill in 1977 where he remained for almost the remainder of his life. John loved everything about Boston.

John, with his knowledge of the law and contracts and his engaging, persuasive personality, decided to join the family insurance business. John loved the insurance business and started and operated several insurance services companies. John mostly enjoyed creating insurance solutions for various industries. He carefully analyzed a few key industries; became involved and learned about their major uninsured business risks, and then help design new forms of insurance coverage and risk management programs to mitigate or transfer these risks to insurers. John became successful with this strategy. He also became and remained a member of Lloyds, London for decades developing many lasting business relationships around the globe.

John loved a good time, enjoyed chatting with and encouraging young people to pursue their passions and always found time to comfort those who experienced loss and help with charitable events.
