He is survived by his 3 children, Frederick (Rick) Campbell, Jr. and his spouse Brenda of Julian CA, Diane Bazaz and her spouse Jon of Spencer MA, formerly of Weston, and Sandie Campos of Royalston MA. Also survived by his sister Clare Campbell of Fitchburg; predeceased by brothers Vincent and Robert Bruce Campbell. After marrying on April 25th 1948, Fred and Alice lived in Newton, MA for 9 years, followed by 17 years in Framingham MA. In 1974, they moved to Fred's hometown of Weston, MA to be close to Fred's mother where they remained for 43 years. At the end of 2017, they moved to Spencer, MA with their daughter and son-in-law. Fred worked at New England Telephone Company for 35 years starting as an elevator operator and retiring in 1981 as a third level district manager of motor vehicle operations; during this time completing 8 years of night school to obtain his degree from Northeastern University. After retiring at age 58, he became the neighborhood handyman, fixing and painting houses. Fred loved the outdoors including gardening and raising bees. In the fall/winter he enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling in Maine with his buddies. Fred loved people and, despite his age of 94, had a large group of friends of all ages. He always had a smile on his face, twinkle in his eye and a great story to tell. Friends describe him as a true gentleman and great friend who loved helping people. He always put others before himself and he will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Wellesley on April 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial in the Parish Hall.
