Obituary for Sandra A. Lloyd (Plamondon)

Sandra A. Lloyd (Plamondon)
Sandra Ann (Plamondon) Lloyd, 78, loving wife and mother and lifelong member of the Auburndale community, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Wingate at Weston after a long illness. She was born Jan. 4, 1940, in Boston, the daughter of Walter A. Plamondon and Simone A. (Delorme).

She was raised and educated in Newton schools, graduating from Newton High School in 1958. On May 8, 1960, she married her one and only love, William H. Lloyd Jr. of Natick. They settled on Webster Street, where they raised four daughters, Lisa, Victoria, Christine and Amy, who gave the couple 11 grandchildren.

She was an active member of Corpus Christi Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She had a strong alto voice, and enjoyed singing sacred and secular music. She was known for her love of flowers, particularly roses and African violets.

She worked side-by-side with her husband at A.L. Plamondon Co., where they reigned as king and queen of Auburndale Square. She loved making things with her hands, and passed her talents to her daughters and grandchildren in many different ways. She and her husband loved cruising and getting together with family and friends for dinner and games. They spent 62 years together, and instilled a sense of fun and camaraderie among everyone in their social circles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Lisa Lloyd Sherman and her husband, Garry, of Dedham; Victoria Lloyd Keyes and her husband, Bob, of Berwick, ME; Christine Lloyd and her husband Julian Heggie of Lafayette, LA; and Amy Menzel and her husband, Scott of Milford; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Simone, Greta, Andrew, Taylor, Danica, Lucy, Abby, Chloe and Luke.

Also surviving is her adoring and dedicated sister, Linda Plamondon Barrett of Auburndale and her husband, John; and three nieces, Ann, Jen, Katherine.

She was active in all aspects of her life until she began exhibiting Parkinson’s symptoms in her 50s. Parkinson’s is a cruel disease that limited her ability to do the things she loved, but did not diminish her zest for life, her emotional core or love of family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, michaeljfox.org.

The family will host a memorial celebrating Sandy’s life at 1 p.m. Sunday at Burke & Blackington, 1479 Washington St., West Newton; visitation begins at 11:30 a.m.
