Obituary for Joanna Burke (Trubiani)

Joanna Burke (Trubiani)
Joanna R. Burke (Trubiani) a lifelong resident of Wellesley died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the age of 76. Daughter of the late Camillo and Cora (D’Andrea) Trubiani, she was a graduate of Wellesley High School, class of 1959. A graduate of Bryant and Stratton College, Joanna worked as an administrative assistant at the Cambridge School of Weston before marrying her high school sweet heart, Richard Burke in 1964. The couple settled on State St. in Wellesley to raise their three sons. She ran a day care from that home for many years, before returning to the business world as owner and manager of the Handyman Building Supplies as well as the Wayside Driving Range in Marlborough. Throughout this time, she worked alongside her husband and sons operating the family business, Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home. Most recently, Joanna worked as administrative assistant for APB Automotive in Framingham before her retirement in 2013. In her retirement, she greatly enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and watching her beloved NE Patriots. A true football fan, she attended 3 Super Bowl Games to support “her” Gronk. Joanna loved spending her summers at the family beach house in Hampton Beach, NH, often hosting family events and girl’s weekends with her Wellesley High Schoolmates. Her love of family, friends and a good party will be forever remembered and dearly missed.
Joanna was the beloved wife of the late Richard F. Burke and is the loving mother to Edward J. and his wife Nicole of Wellesley, Michael T. and his wife Jamie of Natick, and Daniel J. and his wife Marianne of Wellesley. Devoted grandmother of 10 treasured grandchildren: Kayla, Nicolas, Brianna, Lauren, Sean, Paige, Caitlyn, Connor, Delia and Georgia. Dear sister to Vincent Trubiani and wife Charlotte of Wellesley and Richard Trubiani and wife Susan of Sudbury. Aunt of Nicole McIlvenna, the late Matthew Trubiani, and Joshua, Sarah and Mark Trubiani and Ryan Flynn.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 22 at 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church 9 Glen Rd. Wellesley Hills, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-8 at the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home 56 Washington St. Wellesley Hills.
