Obituary for Janet B. Milione (Bedard)

Janet B. Milione (Bedard)
Janet Milione (Bedard) September 1, 2017, 58, of West Newton, loving wife of Victor and devoted mother of Lauren and Ryan, passed peacefully in her home with family by her side. Janet was an incredible source of joy, support, comfort, friendship, strength, wisdom, patience and good humor to all who knew her. She loved music, spending time by the water, laughing, dinners out, Red Sox games, walking with friends, and watching her children grow into remarkable adults. More than anything, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, whom she loved dearly. Born in Hartford, Janet was a graduate of South Catholic High School, class of 1977, University of Connecticut, class of 1981, and received her masters in speech pathology at Northeastern University, class of 1984. Janet influenced many lives through her longtime career as a speech therapist. She also dedicated her time to supporting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she served as the Co-Chair of the Pediatric Patient Family Advisory Council (PPFAC) and frequently participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge and Jimmy Fund Walk, raising thousands for cancer research. Janet was the beloved sister of Michael, Karen, Ken and the late Steven Bedard. Predeceased by her father, Paul Bedard and mother-in-law Marie Milione, Janet leaves her mother, Wanda Bedard and her father-in-law Ralph Milione, in-laws Dee, Sharlene, and Kelly Bedard, Joseph Perrelli, Clare & Greg Allen, Patricia & Bill Stevens, as well as
many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, September 5, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Burke and Blackington Funeral Home, West Newton. A funeral mass will begin at noon on
Wednesday, September 6 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Newton. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Fund, where Janet received care during her courageous long-term battle with metastatic breast cancer, or to Metavivor.org.
