Obituary for Anne C. Kelley (Cronin)

KELLEY, Anne Cronin, of West Roxbury, Mass., died on January, 26, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born on June 10, 1959, Anne was the youngest of five children of Edward V. Cronin and Mary Louise Cronin (née Bowen). She grew up in Newton, Mass. and received her nursing degree from Boston College in 1981. She was the beloved wife of Grover J. "Jerry" Kelley, whom she married in 1989. Anne is survived by her husband, Jerry; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and Ralph J. Bozza; her brother and sister-in-law, Edward B. Cronin and Helen M. Crowe; her brother and sister-in-law, Paul D. Cronin and Nancy Cronin; her sister-in-law, Abigail Kelley; and her brother-in-law, James F. Kelley, Jr. and his wife, Patricia. Anne is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary Louise Bozza, Michael N. Bozza (Zana), Katherine A. McAllister (Christopher Paone), Timothy P. Cronin, Mary Katherine Cronin, Kathleen M. Cronin, Elizabeth Belliveau, Victoria Belliveau, James F. Kelley III, and Maeve Kelley, along with many cousins and extended family. Anne was predeceased by her parents and her eldest sister, Martha E. McAllister.

Anne was a caregiver in every sense, whose loving generosity was cherished by her family, friends, colleagues at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and the countless lives she touched as a nurse. For nearly a decade, she joined her sister and brother-in-law on annual mission trips to Haiti to provide health and dental clinics to vulnerable communities. Her warmth and love more than made up for the limits of her Creole vocabulary, making her especially beloved to the children for whom she cared. Anne was a passionate cook and baker and was always eager to dazzle her family, neighbors, friends and colleagues with decadent treats to mark every occasion. Anne was also a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews. Her indelible influence on her nieces’ and nephews' lives -- as well as the lives of her grandnieces, Salam, Noor, and Charlotte, whom she loved so dearly -- will be one of her most enduring legacies.

A wake will be held at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington Street, (Rte. 16) West Newton, MA 02465 on 1/29 from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 pm on 1/30 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9 Glen Road Wellesley, MA 02481. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne’s name to Newton-Wellesley Hospital [2014 Washington St, Newton, MA 02462,or the Diocese of Norwich’s Outreach to Haiti [815 Boswell Avenue, Norwich, CT 06360].
